Pet Memorial Sundial

Pet Memorial Sundial.  This gorgeous natural stone memorial sundial would make a wonderful garden centre-piece or a subtle addition to a favourite corner: hand carved and fluted with superb detail. It will make a fantastic feature in any garden and is completely discreet.

They are available in a choice of two types of stone:

  • Travertine a smooth limestone which buff in colour, rich in texture (pictured)
  • Sandstone which is also buff in colour but with a more consistent colouring and surface.

Dimensions: Height 80 cm  (31″)

Capacity: will hold a standard ashtainer (which is supplied free of charge) for a full set of ashes

Travertine is a form of limestone which  is formed by a process of rapid precipitation of calcium carbonate, often deposited at the mouth of hot springs or limestone caves. Travertine often has a concentric appearance making it both a beautiful and sturdy building material which is frequently used in Italy.

Sandstone is a classic sedimentary rock. It consists of quartz, mica, feldspar, clay and iron oxides. As it is naturally forming it comes in a range of colours from tan to yellow.

Sundials

The memory stone sundials come with  an antique brass sundial as standard, or you can choose a bright brass sundial for a small extra charge.

We send you your sundial with a sealant so that once you have placed your beloved pet’s ashes into the hollow central column you can simply apply the sealant and place the sundial on top securing the ashes safely inside.

Delivery of Pet Garden Memorials

Due to the weight of the piece we supply these on pallets. You can see up to date costs here but the price will be added to your order as soon as you enter your address.

PLEASE NOTE – Delivery companies will only deliver to your driveway. You will need to arrange for the movement of the stone from the driveway to your desired location in your garden.

Can I keep my pet’s ashes in the garden?

The simple answer is yes.

You can keep their ashes in a garden pet urn or you can bury them in the ground. The major benefit of putting them in an urn is that:

  1. You don’t need permission
  2. They will be secure and dry
  3. You can take them with you if you have to move house
  4. They are discreet – only you will know what is inside
  5. They make a really special feature in your garden
  6. You can visit the spot as often as you want/need
  7. You can choose to make memorial jewellery or glassware at a later date.

You can read more information about keeping ashes in your garden here.

How do I keep ashes in the garden?

We are a nation of gardeners and many pets would love to be placed to rest in the garden that they loved, nurtured and enjoyed.  The main downside to simply burying the ashes in the garden is that if the house ever has to be sold you will have to find and dig the ashes up or leave them behind. This can be stressful for all involved. By keeping the ashes inside an ornament in the garden not only do you get to put your beloved pet in the place that they loved, but if you do ever need to move home you can simply take them with you.

What if I change my mind?

The other benefit of a memorial garden ornament is that it is completely discreet. This will give you more time to decide what you want to do as your feelings may change over time. Until then these urns can keep the ashes safely at home without you having to explain your reasons to anyone, if someone admires the keepsake it is up to you whether you tell them or not.
