Description
Pet Memorial Stone Sundial: The Devon
Carved Pet Memorial Stone Sundial. Stunning and unique, these hand carved limestone boulders are special in every sense. They are made from a distinct and beautiful limestone only found in South Devon – Stoneycombe limestone – which has rich tones and veins right through it.
They are individual, no two boulders are the same in shape or size, hand-cut to size with the top surface polished to a shine which reflects the light.
Dimensions
Size: They tend to be above half a metre in height and half a metre ‘square’ at the top. We can cut them to size within reason.
Weight: They weigh between 200 -300kg.
They are hand-cored so the urn containing the ashes can be discreetly placed inside.
The stonemason is a skilled memorial artist and is able to carve an inscription if so desired (some additional cost).
They are made of local stone and are hand-carved here in Devon, England and can’t be bought anywhere else.
Sundials and Armillary
The carved memorial stone sundial comes with a brass sundial as standard, The Armillary is extra.
We send you your sundial with a sealant so that once you have placed your loved one’s ashes into the hollow central column you can simply apply the sealant and place the sundial on top securing the ashes safely inside.
Keeping the ashes
Many people keep their beloved pet’s ashes at home, some because they are not sure what to do with them. Some because they are not yet ready to do something with them. And some simply want to keep them close by, in the house.
Sometimes, very well meaning, friends will give advice such as ‘it’s time to move on’ or ‘you’ll feel better if you scatter/bury them’. But only you will know how you feel with the loss of your loved pet and only you will know when and if the time is right to do something else with the ashes.
Keeping ashes in the garden
The main downside to burying the ashes in the garden is having to move house. If you ever have to sell your house you will have to find and dig the ashes up or leave them behind. This can be stressful for all involved. But if you keep them inside an ornament in the garden you get the best of both worlds. Your beloved pet’s ashes are in the place that they loved, and if you do ever need to move home you can simply take them with you.
