Large Wooden Urn: The Bearacleave

This large wooden urn is designed to hold either two sets of ashes, some customers have been put in one with their beloved dog, or it have have the divider removed to hold the ashes of a really large dog, say a St.Bernard, or a horse.  The divider simply slides in or out depending on what you want, we can also provide more dividers if you want to separate more than two sets of ashes.

You can choose to have the option of a plaque with your own personal message engraved upon it. There is a traditional brass plaque or a more contemporary stainless steel one.

Handmade in Dartmoor, Devon.

These beautiful and unique wooden urns are handmade in Devon by a local craftsman. He selects the most characterful pieces of oak and makes them into gorgeous, solid  urns. He usually finishes them in a Danish oil which gives them a beautiful sheen but you can also have it finished in natural beeswax that he makes from his own hives.

Keeping the ashes

Many people keep their beloved pets ashes at home, some because they are not sure what to do with them, some because they are not yet ready to do something with them and some simply want to keep them close by, in the home. Sometimes, very well meaning, friends will give advice such as ‘it’s time to move on’ or ‘you’ll feel better if you scatter/bury them’. But only you will know how you feel with the loss of your beloved pet and only you will know when and if the time is right to do something else with the ashes. Until then these urns can keep the ashes safely at home without you having to explain your reasons to anyone, if someone admires the urn it is up to you whether you tell them or not.
