What is the pet birthstone for October?
Pet Birthstones by Month – October. Tourmaline is the birthstone for all pets born in October. The word tourmaline comes from the the word ‘turamali’ which is a Sinhalese term for crystals. Tourmaline is mostly mined in Brazil with the bluey green gems – which we use as our October birthstone colour – found in the Pariba State.

October Birthstone Meanings
It is the gem colour for all Librans. This is for pets born between September 24 – October 23. Tourmaline is thought protect the wearer from danger and in some cultures believed to awaken the wearer from dreams of illusion. It is sometimes known as the philosophers stone as it is meant to grant the power of enlightenment.
Tourmaline are for compassion
It is said that wearers of Tourmaline are compassionate. And compassion is a key building block in our recovery from the loss of a pet. We need compassion for ourselves in order to heal our hearts. And we need to have compassion for those who are suffering from the loss of a pet. It is good way to encourage healing and to express empathy.
Birthstones and losing a pet.
Whatever month your pet was born being able to use that colour in a piece of memorial jewellery can be very comforting. I have my April’s ashes in a Tiffany Ring, an Eternity Ring and a Silver Teardrop. And whilst I wear the rings daily I save my teardrop pendant for days when I need an extra boost, it helps me to channel some of April’s general gorgeousness and gets me to put my best foot forward, even if I’m not really feeling my best.

It can make this difficult choice easier for some people. At the moment we’re unable to offer a clear version of the diamond colour so we use a ‘pink diamond’ colour but watch this space we have some very exciting news coming shortly which will change this….
