Pet Birthstones by Month – July. Ruby is the birthstone for all pets born in July. The word ruby comes from the latin ‘ruber’ meaning red. Rubies are still found in mainland Europe in The Republic Macedonia but more often mined in Thailand and Cambodia. Rubies were traded on The Silk Road and their value has long been held across the world. So many of our gorgeous pets are named Ruby because of their reddish brown fur or that that they are the most valuable gem in our family!

July Birthstone Meanings
It is the gem colour for all Cancerians. This is for pets born between June 22 – July 22. They are often mentioned in the Old Testament, in the Book of Exodus and The Book of Proverbs. The Hindus regard rubies as the ‘king of gems’ believing to protect the wearer from darkness, shadows and evil.
Rubies are for emotional intelligence and loyalty
Rubies are said to symbolize loyalty, pasion, emotional intelligence and harmony. All the characteristics of our beautiful furry friends. I often wish that more people had the emotional intelligence of my Mabel. She knows when I need to get outside for some fresh air & if I feel down she’s right there snuggling up for a comforting cuddle. As for loyalty, it just doesn’t come any better than my Schnoodle – I know I would say that wouldn’t I! Well it cuts both ways 🙂
Birthstones and losing a pet.
Whatever month your pet was born being able to use that colour in a piece of memorial jewellery can be very comforting. I have my April’s ashes in a Tiffany Ring, an Eternity Ring and a Silver Teardrop. And whilst I wear the rings daily I save my teardrop pendant for days when I need an extra boost, it helps me to channel some of April’s general gorgeousness and gets me to put my best foot forward, even if I’m not really feeling my best.
