What is the pet birthstone for August?

Pet Birthstones by Month – August. Peridot is the birthstone for all pets born in August. A beautiful olive-green colour which exactly matches the colour of my beautiful Midnights’ eyes, she is one of my two black cats, they joined our family at Halloween and the boys named them Pumpkin and Midnight! Our gorgeous Pumpkin has orange eyes.

August Birthstone Meanings

It is the gem colour for all Virgos. This is for pets born between July 23 – August 23. Peridot is also known as the evening emerald due to it’s lighter green colour. In Hawaiian folklore the Goddess of Volcanoes, Pele, cried tears into the ashes, and these crystals – peridots – would ward off evil spirits.

Peridots are for healing

In Vedic tradition Peridots are thought to help disorders of the heart, easing depression and banishing lethargy. And pet grief is very much a disorder of the heart. Wearing a peridot or a peridot coloured stone is said to bring it’s healing powers to our sadness.

Birthstones and losing a pet.

Whatever month your pet was born being able to use that colour in a piece of memorial jewellery can be very comforting. I have my April’s ashes in a Tiffany Ring, an Eternity Ring and a Silver Teardrop. And whilst I wear the rings daily I save my teardrop pendant for days when I need an extra boost, it helps me to channel some of April’s general gorgeousness and gets me to put my best foot forward, even if I’m not really feeling my best.

Birthstone Pet Memorial Jewellery

Birthstones by Month – July. If you know the month of your beloved pet’s birth then you might like to choose to put their ashes into an appropriately coloured stone. It can make this difficult choice easier for some people. At the moment we’re unable to offer a clear version of the diamond colour so we use a ‘pink diamond’ colour but watch this space we have some very exciting news coming shortly which will change this….

Choosing a colour for your memorial jewellery can be both a difficult and lovely thing, if you have a favourite colour then the choice is simple but many people choose a colour based on the month of their pets birthday, their birthstone or star sign.
