Tom Hardy has recently spoke about his pain on losing his dog Woody. An 11 week old stray that he met whilst filming the hit film Lawless, Hardy adopted the beautiful Golden Retriever and he quickly became a firm friend.
He brought him back to the UK and then took him everywhere with him. Woody has been on many sets and met lots of film crews, he was a regular on photo shoots of premieres, he even appeared on Peaky Blinders. He was voted #73 most influential animal in TIME magazine.
Whether we choose a pet or they choose us when we lose them the impact can be extremely hard to deal with. All the memories come flooding back, the joy of being with them, they difficulties in getting them house trained. The love they had for others and most hard to bear the incredible unconditional love they had for us.
When you lose a pet do make sure you get help. Talk to those people who have also lost pets and make sure you look after yourself. For more information about dealing with pet bereavement see our advice pages
