Stevie Nicks and Shulamith
Stevie Nicks and Shulamith. October saw the passing of 17 year old Shulmith, Stevie Nick’s beloved Chinese Crested Yorkshire Terrier mix. The pair had been together for a long time, through the ups and downs of the Fleetwood Mac’s singers life. Often photographed in the singers arms or being carried by her PA the gorgeous girl was a constant companion.
Officially named Sulamith Wülfing, Stevie once described as her “life-partner puppy.” Born in 1998, Sulamith passed away at the age of 17 in 2016.
Stevie thought something was very wrong when she first got her Yorkshire terrier mix and constant companion, Sulamith, because the dog’s back was completely bald. “I totally freaked out!” she said. It turns out Sulamith — named after the early 20th-century German painter of mysticism Sulamith Wulfing — is also part hairless Chinese Crested.
Every time Stevie’s longtime backup singer Sharon Celani bought a piece of cashmere, Sharon would send a picture of it to a service that created a replica in Sulamith’s size. Sulamith had more cashmere than any human on the tour.
During tours Sulamith had a frenemy, a (non-bald) Yorkie named Mana that Stevie and her longtime assistant Karen Johnston adopted, Mana has a feisty personality and a tendency to pee on the rugs in very expensive hotel rooms.
What does the name Shulamith mean? The meaning of the name Shulamith is Peaceful. The origin of the name Shulamith is Hebrew. This is the culture in which the name originated, or in the case of a word, the language.
