Miley Cyrus and Bubba Sue
Miley Cyrus told her loyal followers on Instagram that her pet pig Bubba Sue had passed away. Above a video of her with Bubba Sue who she affectionately called Pig Pig she wrote:
“Very sad to say… my dear friend Pig Pig has passed away…. I will miss u always 🐷 thank you for so many laughs and good times girl.”
Miley adopted Pig Pig after the sudden death of her beloved dog Floyd in April 2014. You can see my short blog post about Floyd’s tragic death here
Pet Bereavement Blog
When I first starting blogging about pet bereavement I have to say some friends were a little skeptical. They said things like “but people don’t want to talk about stuff like that”. And I know we, as in us British, have struggled with showing our emotions. But now, when I look at the wonderful supportive comments that follow almost any celebrities announcement of their pet loss, I see an outpouring of love that is so amazing.
Talking about pet loss
Loss is such a deeply felt emotion. We all feel it differently, and I say almost every day to somebody, there is no right or wrong way. But we recognise it in others – be they human or animal. We connect a some level with their pain. We do actually want to talk about it. Maybe not all the time or maybe some days and not others. But we do want to reach out and understand these feelings that we have when a pet, furbaby, best friend leaves this world.
There will be times when the wave of grief will make total sense and we can cope, there may be times when it doesn’t. What knocks us sideways one day might become our fondest and cherished memory in years to come.
It’s not easy, look at Miley, the fabulous Tattoo, the albums, the tributes. She battles with each loss in such creative ways. We might not quite have her ingenuity, or budget, but we can listen and support each other through the journey.

So I send my condolences and best wishes to Miley and to everyone else keep supporting each other along the way. And remember you can always sign up to my free pet bereavement guide, just pop your email address in the pop-up or drop me a line at hello@mypetsashes.co.uk and I can add you there.
